Accountant
Primary Purpose:
Assist the Business Manager with all aspects of the district's accounting procedures including, but not limited to invoicing, reconciliations, and analysis of financial transactions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
General Duties:
- Record financial transactions in the financial software including revenue, journal entries, and budget transfers
- Record cafeteria sales and receipts on a monthly basis and prepare the monthly Profit & Loss Statement
- Track, record, and reconcile all taxes, including delinquent taxes
- Maintain communication with tax collectors including answering questions, resolving problems, and addressing concerns
- Generate invoices and monitor accounts receivable
- Distribute interim taxes, record payments, and verify and prepare real estate tax refunds
- Prepare cash receipts and deposit funds into district bank accounts
- Reconcile bank and investment accounts on a monthly basis and post necessary journal entries
- Reconcile the balance sheet accounts for the district
- Update capital asset management reports for new and replacement equipment to meet GASB 34 reporting standards
- Assist the Business Manager with accounting for federal, state, and local grants
- Assist the Business Manager with federal, state, and local audits
- Assist in coordinating the purchasing functions of the school system by preparing specifications for equipment, supplies, and furniture
- Assist in supervising and maintaining suitable accounting systems for all funds including the general fund, food service, and student activities
- Analyze all financial transactions of the school district, in accordance with PA School Code
- Review, reconcile, and post the monthly procurement card transactions
- Serve as the backup and additional support for the payroll and accounts payable positions
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Business Manager, as needed

Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting
- Experience in accounting (preferred)
- Experience working in a school district setting (preferred)
- Equivalency of education and experience acceptable
- Valid PA Driver’s license
