Data Technician (ACCESS)



  1. Knowledge of Special Education Law and Medicaid terminology preferred.
  2. Associates Degree preferred.
  3. Two years of related experience.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to operate a computer, applicable software and devices and ability to learn web-based programs.
  6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  7. Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  8. Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

JOB GOAL:   To procure Title XIX (Health Care Finance Administration) MA (Medicaid) funds, which are used to enhance Special Education Services for children in the School District of Lancaster.



  1. Obtains, reviews and processes all documentation required for the authorization process to be completed by CRNP (Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner) and MD (Doctor of Medicine).
  2. Perform tasks to establish and maintain department records.
  3. Accurately identifies Medicaid students using state system.
  4. Assist Transportation Specialist with creating documentation to be distributed to bus drivers on a monthly basis.
  5. Obtain, organize, and enter pertinent data in an accurate and timely fashion.
  6. Attend all statewide School Based ACCESS Program trainings.
  7. Accurately tracks service logs and notifies staff when they are past due.
  8. Scans all pertinent documentation into student information system.
  9. Assist with CPR/First Aid certifications.
  10. Assist with Medicaid screenings and renewal processes needed for the program.
  11. Assist with monthly, quarterly and yearly processes.
  12. Assist with data collection for financial reports.







  1. Support all clerical functions for the supervisor/department.
  2. Support all levels of communication with students, parents, staff and community.
  3. Support departmental policies, procedure manuals and work
  4. Perform other related duties as assigned by




EVALUATION:          For new employees, evaluations will be done according to the current collective bargaining agreement. For transferring employees, evaluations will be done at 30 days.

All regular employees will be evaluated at least yearly.




Physical Demands

Sitting at a desk for extended periods. Standing for limited periods of time.

Occasional bending, stooping. Light lifting - up to 15 lbs.

Manual dexterity to prepare mailings and use office equipment. Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding.


Sensory Abilities:

Visual acuity to read correspondence and computer screen. Auditory acuity to be able to use telephone and greet visitors. Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.



Ability to work as a member of a team.

Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people.


Must be cooperative, congenial and service-oriented.

Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to work with little supervision.


Mental Demands:

High degree of patience and tolerance.

Ability to interpret detailed written and verbal communications. Ability to perform basic math skills.



Normal office environment.
