Accountant
Position Summary
As one of the senior members of the Business Office team, the Accountant is responsible to ensure accurate day to day accounting operations and reporting. This position is working from our Capital Campus Family Service Center in Harrisburg, PA.
- Coordinate annual audits
- Reviews journal entries and deposits
- Reviews the employee expense reports which includes semi-monthly employee personal reimbursements and monthly employee procurement cards
- Reviews family mentor stipends
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepares, submits, and ensures accuracy for the Federal Program revenue and expenditure processing & quarterly reporting
- Coordinates with other departments the needs required for Federal Program funding and obtains all documentation for these required needs
- Oversees the annual federal monitoring for Federal Program funding
- Obtain and ensure all expenses follow the approval guidelines prior to payment
- Provide ad hoc reporting assistance to management
- Ensures development, maintenance & refinement of accounting processes
- Back-up to the rest of the accounting team and provide experience to the rest of the team
- Obtain CFE certification as well as PCSBS certification
- Provide insight and utilize forensic accounting skills on a routine basis
- Prepare supplemental financial board reports
- Track and analyze G/L/vendor transactions for comparability on a routine basis
- Review and make decisions on positive pay exceptions from the bank on a daily basis
- Be the accounting software expert
- Maintain an updated comprehensive knowledge of the PDE chart of accounts for software records
- Other accounting and administrative duties as assigned as the department grows and changes with the School’s priorities

Competencies
- Previous Pennsylvania public school accounting experience preferred, other accounting experience considered
- Knowledge of accounting

Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma
- Bachelor degree in Accounting or business related field with at least 5 years of relevant work experience
