Position Status: Full Time, 12 Month, Secretarial, Non-Instructional

Reports to:  Director of Curriculum and Instruction or Assistant to the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent

Salary: $33,277.50

Purpose/Objective:

This is a confidential position that is directly responsible to the Teaching and Learning department. This position provides support in all matters relating to the efficient operation of the Assistant Superintendent or Assistant to the Superintendent’s office.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or appropriate Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in education, communications, business or related field, or equivalent experience in a similar role. 

  • Minimum 2 years in a communications and or confidential secretarial capacity. Understanding of public school operations and organizational structure preferred.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and send notices to schools and community from the teaching and learning department.

  • Supports preparation of grant funding applications.

  • Supports preparation of purchase orders and budgeting as needed for the department.

  • Prepare all regular/special meeting and district committee meeting agendas, following through on correspondence after the meetings.

  • Register Administrators for workshops.

  • Prepare/update various district listings, committees; respond to requests for information as needed.

  • Maintains Affiliation Agreements with colleges and universities.

  • Service as receptionist to the front office and receive visitors.

  • Answer phone calls and take messages as appropriate.

  • Schedule appointments and maintain daily calendars.

  • Sort/screen all incoming mail and carry out notational instructions accordingly.

  • Handle all forms requiring Administrative signature.

  • Prepares Director or Administrative correspondence as requested.

  • Assist in the development of the district activity calendar.

  • Respond to requests for information; assist with requests of citizens and parent organizations.

  • May assist to inform radio and television regarding late starts/emergency closing/early dismissals.

  • Research/compile data for special assignments and reports as delegated by Directors or Assistant Superintendent or Assistant to the Superintendent.

  • Coordinates with HR to comply with law regarding teacher tenure 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Directors, Assistant to the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent

Physical Qualifications: 

  • Able to lift and/or assist a student in an emergency situation.

  • Able to lift and carry a minimum of 20 lbs. a distance of 30 feet unassisted.

  • Must hold a current PA Drivers license in good standing and be able to independently ambulate to all District buildings and possible meeting locations.

  • Available to be at work during normal business hours from Monday through Friday and at other times as required by the position.

  • In accordance with state and federal law, reasonable accommodations will be considered upon employee request.

Work Environment: 

  • Normal school/office environments. Travel throughout the District and IU21 service area as well as occasional statewide travel as required. 

Certification & Licenses: 

  • Valid Driver’s License
