Facilities Manager

Required Education & Experience: College degree(s) and/or trade school degree with demonstrated supervisory experience. Educational environment experience preferred. 

Qualifications: Three to five years of supervisory experience in an educational environment. Demonstrated ability to supervise employees. General understanding of electrical, mechanical, HVAC systems, plumbing, grounds maintenance, building cleaning procedures, and general computer knowledge. 


  1. Valid PA driver’s license - required 
  2. Certified swimming pool manager - preferred 
  3. Pennsylvania Pesticide license category 24 - preferred 

Purpose: The Facilities Manager  is charged with supporting the overall facilities operations and compliance to all applicable health, safety, and sanitation standards within the District. 

Job Duties: 

  1. Develop, maintain, and review custodial work assignments, as necessary. 
  2. Develop work assignments for custodial staff for non-school days, inclement weather days, and summer cleaning. 
  3. Supervise and control the issuance of custodial supplies. 
  4. Evaluate and maintain a computerized inventory of custodial and maintenance equipment, tools, and supplies. 
  5. Maintain the key control system for all District facilities. 
  6. Establish snow removal schedules for custodians and outside vendor(s). 
  7. Adhere to and observe, health, safety, and sanitation regulations in all district buildings to insure maximum cleanliness. 
  8. Observe and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local legal guidelines. 9. Conduct security and safety checks of all District buildings and grounds.
  9. Process and coordinate the scheduling of the “Use of School Facilities” throughout the District. 
  10. Assist in the evaluations, revisions and implementation of a comprehensive and preventative maintenance programs for roofing, paving, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. 
  11. Assist in the preparation of bid specifications for project work done by outside contractors and vendors. 
  12. Assist in the creation of a preventative maintenance schedule and strategic capital budget and replacement schedule. 
  13. Assist in the evaluations and documentation of work performed by outside contractors and vendors for accuracy and completeness. 
  14. Maintain a file of operating instructions and manuals for all major mechanical equipment in all District buildings. 
  15. Maintain a file of all building plans and blueprints. 
  16. Responsible for safety issues in all District buildings, such as, but not limited to: fire alarms, emergency generators, fire extinguishers, security systems, card access systems, etc. 
  17. In the absence of the Facilities Director, attend School Board committee meetings and School Board meetings. .
  18. Assist with annual evaluations of staff performance and review these with each staff member.
  19. Establish and maintain a computerized work order system. 
  20. Assist in reviewing applications and conducting interviews for related personnel positions. 
  21. Develop vacation schedules for unionized personnel, in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement. 
  22. Assist in contract negotiations. 
  23. Be flexible for hours will vary and will include the following: shift differentials, Holidays and weekends. 25. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. 


  1. Knowledge of overall District Operations. 
  2. Collaborates on the development and implementation of long range and strategic plans. 3. Respond to emergency calls throughout the District. 
  3. Establish and maintain a high level of readiness and preparedness of all District buildings and grounds. 
  4. Establish and maintain good communications with all District personnel.
