A Vacancy exists for the Director of Operations for the Upper Merion Area School District.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field.
- Five years’ experience in management of operations (with experience in facilities management, construction management and facilities planning).
- Demonstrated managerial and supervision ability.
- Knowledge of budgets and ability to monitor budget processes.
- Strong organizational skills and strategic planning skills, pro-social collaboration, communication and planning skills, and technology skills.
- Ability to be flexible, self-directed, and motivated.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises Operations Department personnel including maintenance, custodial and grounds for assigned buildings, Food Services Department personnel including Supervisor of Food Services and cafeteria personnel; Acts as liaison between First Student and District for transportation needs, issues and problem solving; Responsible for annual reporting for transportation services; Assists in the recruitment, employment, assignment, evaluation, transfer and dismissal of appropriate personnel; Coordinates with the Director of Human Resources to plan and implement an effective staff development program for the Operations Department personnel; Inspects all facilities on a regular basis to ensure that they remain in a safe and operational condition; Coordinates with the Business Administrator regarding the Operations Department budget and implements cost control measures to ensure operational efficiency in compliance with district policies and procedures; Recommends the purchase of contracted services, supplies, materials and equipment used for the Operations Department; Plans and implements the Safety Program and serves as Co-Chairperson of the District Safety Committee in compliance with state regulations; Works closely with local law enforcement to establish regular building checks, routine security procedures and address special security problems that may occur from time to time; Performs as “designated person” in charge of implementation of AHERA requirements, responsible for implementation of all federal, state and local requirements pertaining to asbestos abatement and management in order to protect health of the inhabitants of the school district, as well as to protect the District from potential liability; Manages the Energy Conservation Program and serves as liaison with utility companies; Manages the Waste Management Program including recycling operations and the disposal of hazardous materials; Plans and implements with central administration and building administrators the Capital Improvement Program; Consults with architects, engineers, construction managers and other professionals in the planning and implementation of construction and renovation projects; Manages the facilities usage process and serves as liaison with groups and organizations using assigned buildings.
