ANTICIPATED HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
General Responsibilities/Job Summary:
The high school principal manages, supervises, and facilitates the daily operations and all functions of the 9-12th grade secondary school.  Additionally, he or she is an active participant in both district and building-level leadership team planning, goal-setting, and innovation.  Duties include, but are not limited to: financial planning, student scheduling, instructional leadership, data review and analysis, supervision of teachers and staff, facilitation of professional development, curricular review and implementation, cultivation and maintenance of a positive school climate and environment, and proactive parent and community communications. Knowledge of and adherence to district and state policies is expected.
 
Essential Functions/Duties:

-Oversees the Evaluation Process for faculty and staff, completing performance management process including discussion with employees
-Recommends personnel actions including salary increases, promotions and job assignments for faculty and staff
-Manages the the planning, direction and delivery of the high school discipline program with building administration
-Leads aspects of the disciplinary program, incuding investigation, commnication and documentation of significant and serious student discipline
-Partners with building administration to resolve significant and/or on-going student behavior situations
-Communicates with Administration on disciplinary statistics and trends
-Assists with supervision of student activities including extracurricular and sporting events
-Assists with supervision of students within the school day
-Coordinates state testing and assessment for the high school
-Leads the class scheduling process including enrollment review, facilities assignment and schedule conflict
-Develop schedules and procedures to oversee all secondary functions both during and after school hours as assigned
-Uses data to design effective student instruction
-Identifies and leads professional development needs and provides ongoing training to faculty as needed

Requirements Physical and Mental Job Requirements:
-Typically sits for sustained periods of time at a desk and/or computer
-Typically requires close visual acuity involved with preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer screen and extensive reading
-Physically active, standing and walking for extended periods of time
-Occasional bending, crouching, stooping, twisting, reaching and grasping
-Some lifting, up to 25 pounds
-Manual dexterity and repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Training: Master’s Degree
Experience: Five years of teaching experience
Required Certification/Licenses: Certification as a Secondary Principal or K-12 Principal
Travel Requirements: Within the District; other locations for training and meetings
