Anticipated* Confidential Accounting Specialist
  • Prepare and reconcile the monthly bank reconciliations for the district checking accounting, payroll, student activities, flexible spending and all PSDLAF investment accounts.
  • Prepare all standard and monthly journal entries for all district funds
  • Monitor and reconcile all asset and liability accounts for all district funds.
  • Reconcile all monthly reports from the Real Estate Tax Collectors, making entries as appropriate and notifying Director of Finance when discrepancies exist.
  • Manage invoicing process and posting as it pertains to rent of the facilities and any other district invoicing needs and track to ensure that all payments are received.
  • In a timely and accurate manner, meet all reporting deadlines for grants including the quarterly cash flow report and the Federal completion report.  The grants include but are not limited to Title I, Title II, Title III and any other grants awarded to the District.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting Manager and review all grant expenditures to verify that they are in compliance with the grant requirements and with the budgetary requirements.  Notify the appropriate staff if an issue arises.
  • Monitor and post all Federal and State Subsidy payments.
  • Enter all deposits, ensuring that all entries are coded properly.
  • Invoice Southwood for tuition and other charges, then reconcile and post entries accordingly. Coordinate with Child Accounting as it relates to 4605’s.
  • Coordinate billing of retiree benefits with third party administrator. Continuously update retiree spreadsheet for any changes during the fiscal year.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Operations or the Accounting Manager.
  • Must be able to function in and as part of a team, interact effectively with people, and function in a time-sensitive and at times stressful environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions, work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating sound decision-making processes and exercising good judgment while self-prioritizing tasks to complete position requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred or equivalent training in accounting
  • Three years’ work experience with a computerized system, preferably in a public education system
  • Must obtain passing grade on all phases of the secretarial test
  • Must have demonstrated exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated mastery of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel); ability to learn other software as required by the Business Office management
