Payroll Clerk

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for issuance of biweekly pay for all classes of employees as well as the clerical and support duties related to handling payroll related matters including PSERS, supplemental pay.

- High School diploma required; Associates Degree preferred; 

- Two (2) years experience in payroll accounting necessary, preferably in public education
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of processes relating to payroll issuance and associated reporting requirements.

- Knowledge of Pentamation Payroll program highly preferred.

- Proficiency in creating and maintaining a database and extracting information and reports from a database.

- Excellent skills using the Microsoft Office Suite of applications including Excel and Word.

- Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills and the ability to interface with individuals at all levels.


Responsibilities Include but not limited to the following:


  • Generate bi-weekly payroll for school district employees.
  • Provide responses to employees with questions or concerns regarding payroll matters.
  • Record and maintain spreadsheets on payroll deductions.
  • Prepare annual W2 forms for all employees.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll tax data and invoices for accounts payable clerk.
  • Perform calendar and fiscal year-end rollovers.
  • Maintain on-going communication with school secretaries to ensure accurate record keeping for payroll of all employees.
  • Prepare payroll procedures’ correspondence to be distributed throughout the schools as necessary.
  • Extract member demographics, contract and wage data, and service contribution reports; upload to PSERS monthly.
  • Remain current on payroll or PSERS rules and regulations changes; attend workshops for Pension Administration as they arise.
  • Maintain records including confidential employee payroll information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Business Services.
