Acting District Services Coordinator / Child Accounting
The Pleasant Valley School District located in Brodheadsville; PA is seeking a District Services Coordinator approximately through April 2021 or longer. Great opportunity to guide the child accounting function, direct and maintain the necessary accuracy in accounting procedures for student enrollment and attendance. Additional focus on compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, foster students and custody agreements.
Functions:
  • Coordinates and performs child accounting functions and necessary Pennsylvania Information Management System (PIMS) reporting
  • Aids in coordination of student registration with focus on foster students and custody agreements
  • Develops and maintains updated child accounting procedures related forms, including but not limited to: PDE-4605, Section 1305 and 1306
  • Obtains appropriate documentation as required for billing out-of-district placements, maintaining files with this information as required for audit and legal purposes and authorizing and directing the business office with regard to billing the appropriated entities for such students
  • Verifies and approves billing for school district students in out-of-district placements, contacting billing entities, resolving items in dispute and preparing purchase orders for payments as needed
  • Complies with McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act; and suggests strategies for ensuring the immediate school enrollment and full school participation of McKinney-Vento students.
  • Performs calculations and analysis in the facilitation of district-wide ADM and ADA reports
  • Maintains student data in various manual and electronic methods with a focus on state reporting as it relates to child accounting and protects the security of such data
  • Interprets and applies appropriate PDE guidelines, federal, state, and school district rules and regulations related to enrollment and attendance recording and reporting

Requirements Qualifications:
  • An associate degree or higher in business or education is preferred
  • Possesses necessary technology-related knowledge and individual computer/technology-related skills
  • Three (3) years’ experience of child accounting processes is preferred and experience in public education
  • Possesses knowledge of child accounting, PIMS, work order procedures, and State/Federal reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with employees, other school districts and educational institutions, and the public in satisfying the needs and responsibilities of the assigned functions
