As part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (HHFKA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has established new minimum professional standards for school nutrition personnel who manage and operate the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. The rule institutes hiring standards for the selection of new local school nutrition program directors, and requires all school nutrition personnel to complete annual continuing education/training. The new annual training requirements apply to school nutrition program directors, managers, and staff that play a role in the day-to-day operations of food service operations in participating schools. This includes individuals who spend only a portion of their time throughout the school year on food service (i.e. Business Managers). This webcast will review the new professional standards requirements, discuss who must comply, and provide suggestions for implementation. Learn about: The new standards and to whom they apply, Hiring requirements for new School Nutrition Program Directors, Continuing education requirement for all School Nutrition Staff, Training resources, recording-keeping and oversight, and Tips for managing the new requirements.
