PA Biodiesel Mandate: Use in School Vehicles

The PA biodiesel mandate (Act 78) will require the use of B2 biodiesel fuel effective May 1, 2010. In 2010, every gallon of on-road diesel fuel sold in Pennsylvania must contain at least two percent biodiesel. The PA Department of Agriculture is charged with the enforcement of this new mandate. While enforcement will not begin until any remaining amounts of non-B2 fuel are used from storage tanks, schools are asking questions regarding compatibility with new engine technologies, engine warrantees and purchasing.
